Quality
Maximum safety and maximum effect

The balance between maximum safety and maximum effect is our highest priority.

We only use the highest quality raw materials (herbs) and test them to also assure its purity.

Premium Raw Material

Only the highest quality and freshest herbs are selected by specialists to make up the Qi Formulas. Each lot of incoming herbs to our manufacturer is quarantined, inspected, and assigned a source number upon arrival. After passing the inspection for herb quality, herb identification, heavy metal levels, presence of bugs and other contaminants - and in specific instances, active constituents - the herbs are removed from quarantine and allowed to enter the storage facility.

Extraction

Each individual herb is placed in a large stainless-steel vat filled with water that is treated in an on-site water purification unit. The herbs are soaked for a determined amount of time and the water is heated to a set temperature. The different herbs are cooked for optimal length of time to extract most ingredients without over-cooking and destroying the constituents. Cooking duration and temperatures are thus unique to each herb. In the beginning of the heating process, volatile oils are collected by a volatile oil retrieval system installed on each extraction vat. These oils are reintroduced into the product during the granulation process.

Concentration (5:1)

When the optimal concentration strength is reached, the herb is removed from the extraction vat and the liquid is piped directly into the condensing vat. Here it is condensed through evaporation in a relative vacuum under low temperature.

Flow Coating

After vacuum evaporation, the thickened liquid is piped into a vacuum dryer and flow-coating chamber. At this time a base powder of the raw herb is sprayed into the chamber. This mixes with the liquid spray to form granules. Towards the end of this process the volatile oils collected in the extraction phase are introduced into the chamber and are absorbed into the granules.

Double-control of purity The arriving herbs to Europe are again quarantined to await another GMP analysis report (despite high cost) of all the herbs. After satisfied analysis reports the herbs are entered in Europe, where the herbs are mixed together by herb specialists according to the unique recipes provided by Qi elements.

Quality control is reflected in a final certificate, listing all relevant information and test result of each herb and batch.
  1. Botanical name.
  2. Organoleptic properties.
  3. Standard tests concerning solubility, stability, etc.
  4. TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) to reconfirm identity.
  5. HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) to determine and/or quantify relevant markers.
  6. Standard test for salmonella and coli-bacteria + total bacteria count.
  7. Standard determination of heavy metal values (copper, arsenic, mercury, lead and cadmium) with reference to the limit values of the Japanese and EUROPEAN pharmacopoeias.
  8. Pool-testing results for pesticides, herbicides and fungicides.
  9. Herbs susceptible to contamination by alfatoxins are tested separately.

Together with our herb supplier, we are the only European distributors of Chinese herbs to include the latter 3 tests in the standard quality control, and the only to “double-control” the herbs inside Europe, to guarantee valid analyze reports.
